Shades: When I picked up the earlier shades from this range, I refrained from getting this one as one of the shades seemed too pale – almost yellow in the pics that I saw online. While it seemed like a cool colour to experiment with, I wasn’t sure if it made sense to buy it considering the price point here, but finally, I gave in. The lip liner side is a medium, beautiful, bright, orange tinted coral shade while the chubby stick side looks like a light to medium pale pastel orange. The lip liner shade is such a pretty coral color. Not only does it work beautifully as part of this duo, it also works beautifully on its own. It is just so stunning! On the other hand, the pastel version of orange – not my thing. Yes, it works well in the lip duo by providing the lip gradation and the ombre effect. But, it isn’t really a colour which would work on its own – pretty much for any skin tone.

Texture: The texture is quite consistent across the shades that I have tried earlier – lightweight and creamy – glides on smoothly. It does not tug or pull on the lips and applies evenly. Post application, it sets into a semi-matte finish, which is not at all drying. I have mentioned this in my earlier posts as well (of products from this range), texture is key to a product like this. You need the product to be creamy enough to be able to blend the two shades together. And yet, you wouldn’t want it to be so creamy that it transfers too easily and the two shades mesh together to create a third one or become undecipherable from each other. You want them to retain their individuality. I feel that NYX did a fantastic job with getting the texture right. The semi-matte texture lets you create “ombre lips” perfectly and then it sets – so that the two shades remain as is and the look remains intact.
